We can shear up to 5 alpacas per visit. This is due to time restrains and the length of time to shear an alpaca compared to a sheep.
However, larger numbers are available at certain times of the year. Please enquire.

Yes, if you've got just alpacas on your property, we can provide the same great service for your alpacas.

Will you need me to help?
We use nylon ropes to prevent rope burn to the alpacas. The alpaca are kept on the ground the whole time. There is no high table used, which prevents injury to the alpaca. A rubber mat is placed under the alpaca to give it a soft surface.

Help is always appreciated. Assistance from yourself can include helping restrain the alpaca at the beginning and keeping the alpaca calm through the process. Our team are always calm and very considerate about the animals' wellbeing.

If you can't help, that's okay!
Depending on the total number of alpacas assistance will not be required. Alternatively, an additional assistant can be arranged to help out.
Additional Alpaca services
Vitamin A, D & E is an important step to protecting and keeping the health of your alpaca at optimum condition.
Vitamin A is important for an alpacas immune system.
Vitamin D is their if an alpaca is having a Cria and assists in the bone development.
Vitamin E is provided through green pasture, however in the dryer months a boost of vitamin E is recommended.
All these vitamin are given at once based on the alpaca weight and can be easily administered during the shearing process while the alpaca is tethered down.
New safety measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of alpacas while their teeth are being ground. A safety guard has been fitted to the front of the grinder to ensure that the teeth are cut at the correct length and the gum is not damaged in the process.
Alpaca teeth constantly grow and may need grinding every 12months or couple of years depending on their diet. This is a quick and easy operation while they are tethered down for shearing.
