About the day

2026 seminars will be held in conjunction with Jono's Cattle Services.

9am till 12pm - 2026 Sheep Seminar

1pm till 4pm - 2026 Cattle Seminar

You can purchase tickets to both sessions if you want to learn about both sheep and cattle.


Attending our sheep & cattle seminars are a great way to learn everything there is to know about your animals. Whether you're new to sheep, need a refresher on managing cattle or are after some great ideas from others in the hobby farming industry, the day is a great way to learn and ask your sheep or cattle related questions.

  • Correct handing the sheep

  • Age check sheep

Stage 2 - Practical (11am)

  • Moving sheep using flight zone
  • Correct technique to flip sheep
  • Checking sheep health over the fence
  • Detecting lice and disease
  • Learn how to castrate & dock sheep safely

Stage 3 - Theory (1pm)

  • Lingo used in the cattle industry
  • Basic fundamentals of owning cattle
  • General health checks of livestock
  • Health services required (vaccines & drench)
  • Breeding plans & Herd Management
  • Cattle behaviour & safe handling practices
  • Animal Identification & PIC Numbers
  • Biosecurity on your property


Stage 4 - Practical (3pm)

  • How to set yards up for safe & practical use
  • Safely handle & move cattle
  • Types of crushes, use & safely handling cattle in a crush
  • Use of a crush for cattle services
  • Artificial Insemination

What time does it start?

Gates open from 8:45am with the sheep seminar starting at 9am.

Cattle seminar starts at 1pm.

Where is it?

The seminar will be held in Littlehampton SA 5250

(full details will be available upon booking)

How much is it?

Sheep Seminar - Morning Session: $35 per person

Cattle Seminar - Afternoon Session: $35 per person

Sheep & Cattle Seminar - Full Day: $60 per person

Do I need to bring anything?

Yes, you will need to bring your own lunch and water. Morning and afternoon tea will be supplied if you stay for the whole day.

It is recommended to bring a note pad and pen to write down any information you learn. Bring along any questions you may have about your sheep even if we aren't covering the topic.

Will we be near animals?

Yes, you will be in close contact with animals including handling them in yards. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. If you are not wearing appropriate footwear or clothing you may not be able to participate in the practical activities.
