A quick crutch will keep your sheep happy and health.
Crutching is when we remove the wool from around the rear of the sheep. We do this to prevent flystrike before shearing and to prevent a build up of faeces during the wetter months of the year.
It is recommended to crutch your sheep before the shearing season. Anytime from March onwards and no matter if you only have a few sheep.
Keeping your sheep healthy is our first priority!
If you suspect your sheep may have worms or event be mineral deficient, than a drench will assist in their well being.
Selecting the right drench for you sheep is critical and therefore important to talk about before administering. We can perform a Worm Egg Count (WEC) prior to drenching your sheep to obtain a full picture of what your sheep may need.
A vaccination for your sheep can prevent many issues. Vaccinating correctly is most important.
We offer 5-in-1 Ultravac and 6-in-1 Glanvac for your sheep.
If you have never had your sheep vaccinated before they will need to be first placed on a vaccination program, in which they will receive their first dose, followed by a second dose 4-6 weeks later as a booster. After they have completed their program, they will only require an annual booster.
Vaccinating your sheep will maintain their health and prevent any major disease infection. Please feel free to talk with us about the best suited vaccination program for your sheep.
A well maintained hoof is a health sheep.
Sheep sometimes need a good pedicure! When sheep hooves become over grown they can cause issues with walking.
A quick hoof trim each shearing season will ensure your sheep hooves are in prefect condition. We often check your sheep hooves while we are shearing for any abnormalities.
Are you just wanting to know if your sheep are healthy, or are you just concerned and not quite sure what to to do?
We want to make sure your sheep are healthy, that is why health checks are free! (Excluding travel fees).
A quick health check will determine what may be wrong with your sheep and the best course of action going forward. If we believe a veterinarian will be able to assist you further, we will refer you only to the best!
Sheep sometimes need a little pick me up, especially if they are lambing.
Giving your sheep a B12 shot will greatly assist in your sheep wellbeing while they are in lamb or lambing.
B12 is naturally stored in the body but can be quickly used up at times. If your sheep require more B12, a single dose will assist but if your sheep does not require additional B12 but a shot has been given, then the excess is naturally excreted through the body.
Like anything itchy, you want it gone.
Lice treatment it a non harmful process to ensure your sheep are free from any external parasites. We spray a blue strip across their backs after they've been shorn and this creates a barrier to rid your sheep of lice and to prevent near future attacks.
You can administer a lice treatment while the sheep still have a full fleece, however the treatment is a heavier dose and may not be as successful, but will assist if the lice are only a mild on the infested sheep.
Often with ram horns, they grow a little 'weird'. We are able to trim the horn back to maintain it and prevent it from growing into the sheep's head.
We can also trim goats horns as well. We use a purpose built cutting wire to cut through the horn safely and quickly to prevent any discomfort to your animal.
Come lambing season, you may need to remove their tail and testicles, as well as put a tag in their ear.
Even if you've just got a couple of sheep, doing this right is important. We can lamb mark hundreds of lambs or even just one.
We supply all the necessary equipment, including rings and lamb marking cradle.
